My journey with JWT Authentication began in 2015 with the release of the free JWT Authentication for WP REST API plugin. As the plugin's user base grew to over 60,000 active installations, I recognized the need for more advanced features and professional-grade security capabilities. Rather than abandoning the free plugin or limiting its functionality, I took a different approach—creating JWT Authentication Pro as a premium extension while continuing to maintain and improve the free version. This ensures that both individual developers and professional users have access to the authentication tools they need.
